Aboriginal Playgroups and Enrichment Programs

The Aboriginal Playgroups and Enrichment Programs is funded by the Australian Government and is to support the development of stronger families, to provide opportunities for social and economic participation by assisting families with dependant children to access culturally appropriate, affordable, quality child care.

 

  • To encourage quality outcomes for children in efficiently managed services and to support the development of children.
  • To encourage parental involvement and promote an educational focus for both children and parents/carers
  • To be responsive to the needs of the local community
  • To provide a professional and quality focused service
  • To conduct playgroup activities and model practices that are culturally appropriate
  • To be flexible in responding to the various needs of individual children and families
  • To be community developed and managed
  • To have activities focus on interactive play and socialising and assist parents/carers to develop their own skills and confidence as well as those of their children.
  • Incorporate an Aboriginal cultural enrichment program into their playgroup sessions.
